 LADY LYNX ANNOUNCE INAUGURAL

2005 SCHEDULE!

Wednesday, February 2, 2005 (TORONTO, ON) – Opening their inaugural season in the W-League at home, the Lady Lynx will take to the pitch at Centennial Park Stadium for the first time when they take on the Vermont Lady Voltage on May 15 at 1:00 pm. This exciting beginning will be a double header with the Toronto Lynx USL Division One competing against their Canadian rivals, the Montreal Impact at 4:00 pm. Fans will be treated to both exciting matches for the price of one giving them a big bang for their entertainment buck!

The Lady Lynx will play 7 home and 7 away games with playoffs taking place at the end of July and early August. The Lady Lynx will face the New York Magic on May 21st before going on the road to take on the Sudbury Canadians. Most of the matches will be taking place in June with 2 home games and 4 away games. Due to the enormous support by youth organizations, the Lynx will be repeating their fabulous School Day and Youth Day matinees that they stage for the men's side to host area schools and youth organizations. The last road game will take place in Rochester as they face the Rochester Ravens. The final regular season home game is sure to be a barn-burner when they take on the Ottawa Fury for Fan Appreciation Day and End-of-Season Player Awards.

TheW-league is made up of three Conferences (Central, Eastern and Western), and five Divisions (Atlantic, Midwest, New England, North, and Northeast) featuring some of the best female soccer talent in the world. Last season's final saw the Vancouver Whitecaps beat the New Jersey Wildcats in a thrilling shootout to become the first Canadian team to win the W-League Championship.

The Lady Lynx will play in arguably the toughest Division with the Montreal Xtreme, the Ottawa Fury which finished an impressive 3rd last season, the Rochester Ravens, and the Sudbury Canadians. Leading the Lady Lynx will be Head Coach Brett Mosen, no stranger to the Lynx organization or to USL Soccer. When asked about playing in the very competitive North division Coach Mosen stated ,“We are looking forward to the challenge ahead. With a quality team in place, we have reason to be optimistic."

In a league that features Canadian National standouts Kara Lang and Kelly Parker (W-League’s MVP last season), and French international and former WUSA MVP Marinette Pichon, earning a postseason birth will be no easy task. “We’re heading into the unknown. Our goal is the playoffs. It will be tough but every coach has to set goals that are reasonable and obtainable,” says Brett Mosen. Try outs for the Lady Lynx team are taking place on March 12 and 13th at the Oakville Sports Dome with spring training set to begin May 2nd.
