LYNX SET TO HOST MIAMI FC

Miami FC will make their inaugural visit to Centennial Park Stadium this Friday for the Lynx’ annual School Day  match at 11:00 AM.  The expansion franchise comes into Toronto sitting in fifth place in the USL First Division table with a 2-2-2 (8 pts) record.  Brazilian international superstar Romario is expected to make the trip with the club as they make their only visit for 2006.  Romario sits second all-time only to Pele in goals scored and is rapidly approaching the 1000 career goal plateau.  The club also features another Brazilian World cup hero Zinho, Guatemalan international midfielder Mario “El Loco” Rodriguez, Haitian international defender Stephane Guillaume and Jamaican international midfielder Sean Fraser.

The Lynx are still in search of their first victory, having lost their first five matches and only notching one goal so far in the young season.

The annual School Day match caps the Toronto Lynx School program which features Lynx and Lady Lynx players providing clinics and educational presentations to students at schools all across the Greater Toronto Area.

GODDARD RETURNS

The Lynx bolstered their goalkeeping situation on Thursday with the re-signing of ‘keeper Richard Goddard.  Goddard led the Lynx in wins and goals against average for both of the previous seasons and will share the goalkeeping load with Theo Zagar.  He made his first start of the year on Sunday evening in a close 2-1 loss to the Timbers in Portland.
