Lynx Bolster Line-up With Three Brazilian Signings
TUESDAY MAY 9, 2006 (TORONTO, ON) The Toronto Lynx announced the signing of three seasoned Brazilians in advance of their first Home game vs. Rochester Rhinos on May 13th at 4:00 PM EST. Brazilian striker Andre, striker/midfielder Helinho and midfielder Clayson. The Lynx will look to win their first game of the season at Home after dropping their first two games by an identical 2-0 score line to the Vancouver Whitecaps and the Virginia Beach Mariners.
Andre (Luiz Andre Andrade Junior) comes to the club having just completed the State Championship with Sorriso Esporte Clube of the Mato Grosso State where in 10 games he amassed 5 goals. The 29 year old has played in Brazil and Italy with such teams as Botafogo, Ser Juventude, Mixto Esporte Clube and Real Piedimonte. He will bring speed and creativity to the Lynx forward line.
Helinho (Hélio Paes Pereira Júnior ) comes to the club having also just competed in the second half of the Para State Championship with Ananindeua where he tallied 7 goals in 14 games and was third top scorer. A versatile player who is comfortable as a striker as well as an attacking right-sided midfielder. Helinho's terrific technique and vision will provide an added level of creativity in an already talented midfield. The 25 year has played the past few season's with some of the top clubs in Brazil including Coritiba, Remo and Portuguesa. He won the State Championship with Remo in 2003 and was the State top scorer in 2003.
Clayson (Clayson Rubens Dantas Queiroz) comes to the club from Abaete Futebol Clube where he just completed the second half of the Para State Championship and scored 3 goals in 8 games. A natural left sided player, Clayson is a commanding presence in the centre midfield with a unique combination of sublime technique and tremendous work ethic. A player who likes to get forward, Clayson will be relied on to support the front line strikers. The 27 year has played the past few season's with some of the top clubs in Brazil including Rio Verde and Remo.
