LYNX TO HOLD OPEN PDL TRYOUT CAMP
Super-Y League Trials Continue in December
WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 29, 2006 (TORONTO, ON) The Toronto Lynx Soccer Club announced today that they will hold an open tryout camp from December 18-22 at the Oakville Sports Centre. The club will be evaluating high-level amateur talent in preparation for the 2007 season, which will be the Lynx' first in the Premier Development League of the USL, following ten seasons in the USL First Division.
Head coach Duncan Wilde will return to guide the Lynx in 2007 and will be looking to identify elite Ontario talent to form the backbone of the team's first PDL squad. Said Wilde, "I am in the process of inviting our Junior Lynx alumni into the training camp, many of whom are now playing with NCAA Div 1 Schools in the US. I would also like to invite any and all other players from throughout the region who have the credentials to play at this level".
The PDL is the highest level of amateur soccer in North America and provides a professional environment for elite amateur and college players and is a proven testing ground for players that aspire to reach the highest levels of the game. The camp will take place at the Oakville Sports Centre from 3.30pm to 5.30pm each day during the week of December 18th to 22nd. There will be no charge for player participation but players must register prior to the trials. LYNX JUNIORS TO HOLD TRYOUTS FOR 2007 SUPER-Y LEAGUE SEASON
The club announced today that two additional open tryout session dates have been scheduled for players interested in competing in the Toronto Lynx and Lady Lynx Juniors Super-Y League (SYL) program for the 2007 season. All teams will once again participate in the Midwest division, competing against some of the top clubs and Academy programs in the United States.
The 2007 Junior Lynx program includes participation in the Super-Y League, which is complemented with regular showcase tournaments and events throughout the year.
The Junior Lynx have won 4 Super-Y League conference championships in the past 3 seasons" commented Academy Director Duncan Wilde. "However, the most pleasing thing is the ever increasing number of our players that progress from our program into top college scholarship opportunities in the United States. We welcome new players having the same ambition and drive as our many talented alumni, as we continue to grow our elite player development program".
The open tryout sessions will take place at the following locations, and will be co-ordinated by the Toronto Lynx and Lady Lynx coaching staff.
Hershey Sports Zone, Mississauga: Saturday December 16, 4 PM 6 PM (outdoors)
Oakville Sports Centre, Oakville: Saturday December 23 8 AM 10:30 AM (indoors)
There will be a $20 registration fee for all participating players and pre-registration is required.
