LYNX WRAP UP 2007 HOME SCHEDULE WITH PAIR OF GAMES THIS WEEKEND

THURSDAY JULY 12, 2007 (TORONTO, ON) The Toronto Lynx wrap up their inaugural 2007 PDL home schedule this weekend with a pair of games against the Fort Wayne Fever at Centennial Park Stadium.  The action kicks off on Friday evening with a 7:30 PM encounter as the club celebrates Hometown Heroes night. presented by Via Rail, honouring emergency services groups and other organizations that put their lives on the line to keep the GTA safe.  The home schedule then wraps on Sunday afternoon at 4:00 PM as the club thanks its fans with Fan Appreciation Day.  The Lynx will also honour their best and brightest talents with their annual Player Awards ceremony preceding kick-off on Sunday.  Fans will also have the opportunity to bid for players' game-worn jerseys at a silent auction during the match.

The Lynx have been torrid at home lately, having scored 10 goals in their past two home games, with a 5-0 crushing of the Indiana Invaders on June 24 and a 5-1 dismantling of the Cleveland Internationals on Wednesday afternoon before a huge Youth Day throng.  The team remains in the hunt for the second and final playoff berth in the ultra-competitive Great Lakes division, but must win all of their remaining games and hope for Chicago and West Michigan to falter above them.  Following this weekend's home matches, the team travels to Michigan to battle the division leading and defending PDL champion Bucks on Friday evening, July 20 to wrap up their regular season.

Tickets for both games this weekend are available by calling the Lynx ticket hotline at 416-251-4625 x 31 or at the Centennial Park Stadium box office two hours prior to kick-off on both days.

FIGHT FOR SECOND PLACE IN NORTHERN DIVISION THIS WEEKEND FOR LADY LYNX

The Toronto Lady Lynx continue their push towards the W-League playoffs with a pair of crucial road games this weekend.  Tomorrow evening sees the Lady Lynx visit the Laval Comets for a 7:30 PM encounter at Bois-de-Bologne Stadium.  The team then heads south to St. Albans, Vermont on Saturday for a 5:30 PM match against the 2-7-0 Vermont Lady Voltage.

Laval and Toronto are currently locked in a vicious dog-fight for second place in the Northern Division and the right to host a W-League playoff in two weeks time.  The Comets currently sit second in the division, with 18 points, two points clear of the Lady Lynx.  Toronto, however, has two games in hand and can clinch second place with a pair of wins this weekend.    Friday's match is the first of two games between the two clubs this season, with both teams wrapping up their regular seasons next Saturday, July 21, at 4:00 PM at Centennial Park Stadium.  The two teams tied both matches between the two teams in 2006.
