LYNX & LADY LYNX HIT THE COMMUNITY FOR CANADA DAY WEEKEND

TUESDAY JUNE 26, 2007 (TORONTO, ON) There are no PDL or W-League games scheduled this weekend for the Toronto Lynx and the Toronto Lady Lynx, which allows the two teams to take time out and spend time in the community.  The Lady Lynx will travel to Pickering to take part in the Pickering Soccer Club's "Durham Women in Soccer" event on Saturday afternoon, June 30, while the Lynx will be out in full force at the annual CHIN picnic Sunday July 1.

The "Durham Women in Soccer" event will be highlighted by a 4:00 PM charity exhibition game between the Lady Lynx Pickering Soccer Club U-21 Provincial Team.  The game will be played at Princess Diana Fields in Pickering with proceeds being donated directly to the YWCA Durham. Following the game, the Lady Lynx players will be available for autographs. A special commemorative pin will be available for purchase at the event and fans will also be able to take part in an exciting raffle.

The Lady Lynx roster features a number of elite Durham players, including Brooke McCalla of Pickering, Allysha Chapman from Courtice, and Kirsten Bodashefsky and Emily Montgomery, both of Oshawa.  Lynx head coach Danny Stewart hails from Oshawa, while assistant coach Paul DeAbreu calls Pickering home.

On Canada Day, the Lynx men's team will make their annual visit to the CHIN Picnic on the CNE grounds in downtown Toronto.   Lynx players will be mingling about the grounds throughout the day, greeting fans, entertaining youngsters with displays of their soccer and juggling skills, and signing autographs for aficionados young and old.   Fans will be also to visit the team at the Toronto Lynx booth inside the Better Living Centre, where they can take part in interactive events such as juggling and a ball-control slalom course all day and take advantage of Lynx prize and ticket giveaways.

Youth to begin training with Lynx and Lady Lynx next week

Youth Aged 6-16 years will once again be able to train with the Lynx and Lady Lynx players and coaching staff this summer, beginning next week with a special 2-day session at Centennial Park.  Due to popular demand, the Lynx have expanded the number of fantasy camp sessions this season, adding new locations across the GTA which permits more youth to receive this special "mentorship" program from some of their finest players and coaches.  In addition to the team's highly popular sessions since 1998 at Centennial Park in Etobicoke and L'Amoreaux Park in Scarborough, the club added sessions in Waterloo, Wasaga Beach, Clarkson and Milton this season.   The expansion allows young soccer players in outlying areas to access the team's unique combination of high quality training and fun being taught by some of the finest male and female soccer players in Canada along with the Lynx and Lady Lynx coaching staff.  Many youth soccer teams in the GTA select to train with the Lynx and Lady Lynx to enhance their team's performance and to inspire young players to greater heights.  Sessions and venues are as follows:

Week 1  July 9-13                      @ Centennial Park, Etobicoke &  Clarkson
Week 2  July 16-20                    @ Wasaga Beach Sports Complex & @ Rim Park, Waterloo
Week 3  July 23-27                    @ Centennial Park, Etobicoke &  @ Lions Park, Milton
Week 4  July 30-Aug 3               @ L'Amoreaux Park, Scarborough
