LYNX ANNOUNCE RETURN OF POPULAR TIM HORTONS COACHES CLINICS
 

WEDNESDAY MARCH 26, 2008 (TORONTO, ON) Toronto Lynx, in partnership with Tim Hortons, announced today that they will again be presenting two sessions of their popular Coaches Clinics in 2008.   The spring session, which will help coaches prepare for their upcoming outdoor seasons, will take place on Saturday April 26 at 9:00 AM at Astra Sportsplex in Vaughan.  A second session will be held in the fall at time and location to be announced closer to the date.  The annual coaches clinics have been a highlight in the calendar of local coaches since their creation in 2004.

 

The complimentary clinics are an important tool for the Lynx to reach out to the many youth club and school coaches in the GTA, presenting them unique and useful teaching tools to bring to their own programs.    

 

Toronto Lynx Head Coach and Academy Director Duncan Wilde leads the dynamic and informative sessions, which are a unique opportunity for coaches to enhance their skills in an relaxed setting. Wilde, is supported by Lady Lynx head coach Danny Stewart, Lynx assistant Billy Steele and coaches from the Toronto Lynx Academy.   Tactical sessions include demonstrations featuring Lynx players, and youths from the successful Toronto Lynx Academy Super-Y League teams. Dr. Robert Gringmuth's medical team will be on hand to offer insightful and helpful information on nutrition and fitness.

 

Sessions at this spring’s clinic are scheduled to include:

 

  • Incorporating Ball Work into Your Session Warm Up presented by Billy Steele, Lynx Assistant Coach 

  • Preseason Material for All Ages and Abilities presented by Danny Stewart, Lady Lynx Head Coach

  • Goalkeeping: Working One-on-One, With Both Keepers and Pre-Season Conditioning presented by Glenn McNamara, Lynx Goalkeeping Coach 

  • Team Shaping and Related Functions to Prepare for your Next Match presented by Duncan Wilde, Lynx Head Coach and Academy Director

Coaches who wish to partake in the clinic and take advantage of this exciting and unique opportunity are encouraged to register early as the clinic traditionally reaches capacity. Coaches in attendance will receive coffee, hot chocolate and donuts as well as a special gift courtesy of Tim Hortons, in addition to a free training manual.

The Tim Hortons Coaches Clinics are a part of a larger partnership between Tim Hortons and The Toronto Lynx Soccer Club.  Since 1999, Tim Hortons has continuously increased their support for the highest levels of competitive soccer in Ontario through the Toronto Lynx.
