goalless draw against the Richmond Kickers on July 31st.
Rochester opened scoring early into the
match. Kirk Wilson's shot in the 4th minute beat Lynx and Trinidad and
Tobago goalkeeper Richard Goddard from 16 yards out. Sean Fraser came
close to an equalizer 5 minutes later when he unleashed a shot from 10
yards out, but Rochester 'keeper Scott Vallow was equal to it, pushing
the ball aside.
Toronto were on level terms in the 30th
minute when Josh Simpson sent in a cross that Jamie Dodds hit first time
past Vallow on the short side.
Toronto's euphoria was short lived as
Rochester retook the lead in the 37th minute. Juninho sent a free kick
into the box which Rene Rivas headed past Goddard. It was 3-1 to
Rochester three minutes later. Juninho ran onto Jonathan Bolanos' long
ball and lifted the ball over an oncoming Goddard in the 40th
minute. It was 3-1 to Rochester at halftime.
Toronto were reduced to 10 men in the 68th
minute when Sita-Taty Matondo was shown a red card for his second
bookable offence. Rochester came close to adding another off the
ensuing free kick. Pato Aguilera's shot beat Godddard but not the post
