Summary:
The Toronto Lady Lynx earned their eleventh win
of the season, defeating the Rochester Ravens
6-0 in Rochester.
Toronto opened scoring early in the first half.
Deana Everett's sole effort in the 3rd
minute gave Toronto an early lead. Kim Warner
added to the tally in the 26th minute when she
scored off of Melanie Booth's pass. Melanie
Booth added a goal of her own in the 37th
minute, after a pass from Deana Everett. It was
3-0 to visiting Toronto after the first half.
Toronto started the second half with an
offensive outburst, scoring three times in six
minutes. Deana Everett scored two minutes into
the first half after a solo effort. Kim Warner
scored again two minutes later. It was
influential striker Kim Warner who made it 6 for
Toronto and three for herself in the 51st minute
after her solo effort resulted in a goal. It
was 6-0 to the Lady Lynx after 90 minutes of
play.
Kim Warner was impressive tonight, scoring three
of Toronto's six goals. Tonight's
performance leaves her in first place in the
W-League's scoring standings with 15 goals. She
had previously been tied in first with Boston's
Marissa Brown with 12 goals each. Stacy
Vanboxmeer made two saves in the first half en
route to her first half shutout. Mercer, who
replaced Vanboxmeer in the second half, also
made two saves to preserve the shutout.
Tonight's result leaves the Lady Lynx (11-2-0)
in first place of the W-League's Eastern
Conference, Northern Division. Their next game
is tomorrow (July 17th) when they take on the
Ottawa Fury at home in Centennial Park Stadium.
Kickoff is set for 6:00 PM.
Notes: Toronto entered tonight's match with a
record of 10-2-0, and sat in first place of the
W-League's Eastern Conference Northern Division.
Rochester was 3-8-0 and sat in forth. Both
clubs had faced each other twice this season.
Toronto won both, and outscored Rochester 10-1
through both matches. The last match between
both teams ended 6-0 in Toronto's favour on on
July 13th.
