Match Summary:
The Toronto Lady Lynx picked up their nineth win of the 2005
W-League season this evening, defeating the Sudbury
Canadians 5-1 in front of 2,191 fans at Centennial Park
Stadium.
Toronto made it 1-0 in the third minute through Kim Warner
after Sudbury defender Samantha Falcioni missed a header.
Warner picked up the ball for a breakaway and slipped it
past Sudbury goalkeeper Julie Boschetto. Sudbury equalized
3 minutes later when Cara Smith picked up Schutt's pass
inside Toronto's area and shot past Toronto goalkeeper
Stacey Van Boxmeer.
Toronto regained the lead six minutes later when Holly
Lincoln headed home Kim Warner's cross. Warner added two
more goals in the 25th and 30th minutes, making it 4-1 for
Toronto as the half time whistle blew.
Toronto added one more in the 51st minute, when Hollly
Lincoln slipped Kim Warner's pass past Sudbury 'keeper Julia
Boschetto. The latter stages of the second half produced
no further goals, and it was 5-1 to Toronto as full time
sounded.
Kim Warner produced a stellar performance, scoring a
hat-trick, and assisting on Toronto's two other goals.
Holly Lincoln netted two goals for Toronto. Anne Ogundele,
who came on for Stacey Van Boxmeer at the half, shut out
Sudbury in the second interval. Toronto outshot Sudbury
27-8 through 90 minutes.
Tonight's result leaves Toronto 9-2-0, and solidifies their
spot in first place of the W-League's Eastern Conference,
Northern Division. The Lady Lynx are next in action on
Wednesday July 13th. Kickoff is set for 12:00 noon for the
Lady Lynx' School Day.
Notes: Toronto entered this
evenings match with a record of 8-2-0. Sudbury was 1-9-0.
Toronto's last match, at 3-0 victory away to Vermont, ended
a 2-game lossing streak. Kim Warner, who started today's
match, scored twice for Toronto against Vermont. Both clubs
had already faced each other twice this season, with both
games ending in victory for the Lady Lynx. The first match
finished 1-0 in Sudbury, while the second, in
Toronto, finished 7-0 in Toronto's favour on June 6th.

outside the area which Warner runs onto and slots past
Boschetto.
