Match Summary:
The Toronto Lynx continued their USL First
Division campaign tonight, playing to a 0-0 draw in front of a crowd of
9 864 in Montreal. Toronto Lynx Head Coach Hubert Busby Jr. opted to
start a different team after a series of disappointing results that had
resulted in a record of 0-6-3. This was a team that was different to
the one fans in Toronto had gotten used to this season. Goddard started
in goal, while Edgar Bartolomeu and Robbie Aristodemo made their Lynx
comebacks. Tonight's game also featured newcomer Nigel Henry for the
Lynx. Ali Gerba, who failed to score, played his first game against his
former club after being sent to Montreal last month. Tonight was also a
homecoming for the Lynx' Francois Abraham who was sent to Toronto for
Gerba. Sita Tatay Matondo, who also came to Toronto for Gerba, was not
in tonight's Lynx roster after suffering an injury to the face in
Tuesday's game which forced him to leave the field on a strecher. After
90 minutes, both teams failed to find the back of the net, resulting
in both clubs earning a point for their efforts at Claude Robillard
Stadium. Montreal outshot Toronto 15-8, but Goddard was equal to all of
Montreal's efforts, making 10 saves on his way to his well earned
shutout. Tonight's result leaves Toronto with a record of 0-6-4, and
still looking for their first win, while Montreal remains undefeated.
Lynxsoccer.com spoke with Toronto Lynx Head Coach Hubert Busby Jr. who
praised his team efforts; "Our new additions definitely helped. Overall
it was a good all around total team performance." Busby Jr. also had
much praise for Toronto's fans and urged them to "Keep supporting the
team as we gel and search for a playoff spot." Toronto will be
encouraged by their draw against the defending champions, away from
home, when they host the Portland Timbers tomorrow night in Toronto.
Portland currently rests in 4th place in the USL First Division with a
record of 3-0-3, while Toronto is in 12th. The action gets underway at
7:30 PM at Centennial Park Stadium.
