Match Summary:

The Toronto Lynx ended their 2005 USL First Division campaign this evening, dropping a 4-1 result away to Puerto Rico in front of 4 951 fans at Juan Ramon Lobriel Stadium in Bayamon, Puerto Rico.

Portland’s victory Saturday night ensured that Puerto Rico could not make the playoffs, and with Toronto already out of the playoff hunt, the match had a leisurely feel to it.

After a scoreless first half which saw Toronto goalkeeper Richard Goddard make 6 saves, Puerto Rico took the lead in the 52nd minute.

Mauricio Salles converted his penalty to make it 1-0 for the home side.  Corey Woolfolk made it 2-0 in the 77nd minute, and Petter Villegas made it three two minutes later.  Drew Mcathy added one more to make it 4-0 in injury time.

Toronto grabbed one back deep into injury time when Sita-Taty Matondo found the back of the net.  It was 4-1 to Puerto Rico as full time sounded.

Toronto finishes the season in 12th place of the USL First Division, while Puerto Rico is in 7th.  Both clubs failed to advance to the playoff round.

Tonight’s match ended a Toronto Lynx season highlighted by the play of many young Canadian players under the direction of first year Lynx Head Coach Hubert Busby Jr.  Toronto will look to improve on their achievements from this season in their 2006 campaign.
