Draws Are the  Order of the Night for Lynx and Lady Lynx

Lady Lynx draw in Ottawa and Lynx draw in West Michigan

It was a night of ties for the Toronto Lynx Soccer Club this evening as both the Lynx and Lady Lynx fought to draws on the road.  The Lady Lynx came from behind to draw their arch-rivals Ottawa 3-3 while the Lynx fought to a nil-nil draw in Grand Rapids against the West Michigan Edge.  The Lady Lynx improve to 5-2-1 (16 points) on the season, and move into sole possession of second place in the Northern Division while the Lynx improve to 3-5-4 (13 points) and fifth place in the Great Lakes Division.

In Ottawa, the Fury jumped to a quick 2-0 lead on goals by Jodie Taylor in the 14th minute and Kelly Parker in the 35th minute.  Stefania Morra scored in injury time to to pull the Lady Lynx within one just before half-time.  Anna Laue made the score 3-1 for the hosts 5 minutes into the second half, but the Lady Lynx battled back with two quick scores midway through the half to earn the draw.  Morra added her second of the match in the 63rd minute to bring Toronto within one, and Adrienne Ruhe Lischke levelled the score in the 66th minute.  Both times had chances down the stretch to score the winner, but the defenses held and the game ended level.

The Lynx earned their second draw of the season against the Edge in a tightly-contested 0-0 draw at Grand Rapids.   Neither team was able to generate much offense on a small field at East Grand Rapids High School, and scoring chances were few and far between.  Chris Baker earned the shutout for the Lynx in net, his third in his last four matches.    The Edge claimed the season series between the two clubs with two wins and two ties in four games. 

The Lynx return home for a three-game home-stand next week.  The club will seek to avenge last week's stunning 3-1 loss to Cleveland disappointment on Wednesday afternoon, July 11, when the Internationals  visit Centennial Park Stadium at 12:00 PM for the team's annual Youth Day Matinee.  The team then finishes their home season with a pair of matches against the Fort Wayne Fever on the weekend, 7:30 PM on Friday July 13 followed by Fan Appreciation Day on Sunday, July 15 at 4:00 PM. 

The Lady Lynx hit the road for two more matches next weekend, with stops in Laval on Friday evening and Vermont on Saturday evening before returning home for their final two matches of the year.  The Rochester Rhinos will make their second trip of the year to Centennial Park Stadium on July 18 at 12:00 PM for the Lady Lynx Youth Day, and the Laval Comets will visit on Fan Appreciation Night on Saturday July 21 at 4:00 PM.  The matches against Laval will be of key importance for the Lady Lynx as the two clubs are battling for second place in the Northern Division and the right to host a the Northern Division semi-final playoff match on July 26th.
