The Toronto Lady Lynx claimed their first-ever victory over the Ottawa Fury this evening at stormy Algonquin College in the nation’s capital. Despite a two-hour delay prior to the match, the Lady Lynx played disciplined soccer against a tough Fury squad to earn their sixth win of the year. Stefania Morra’s goal in the 56th minute broke a 1-all deadlock and led the Lady Lynx to the historic result. Brittany Bisnott scored in the 18th minute to give the Lady Lynx and early lead before Shay Powell tied it in the 33rd minute. Elise Kuhar-Pitters made six saves to earn the win for the Lady Lynx between the pipes.
The victory raises the Lady Lynx’ record to a lofty 6-0-1 (19 points) at the mid-point of their W-League season, and keeps them atop the Northern Division. Ottawa falls to 2-1-0 (6 points) on the year.
